The Totem is developed by a Canadian company named: VRVANA. It contains a built-in hardware accelerator and makes augmented reality possible by the unique Real World view.
The HMD has a 1080p OLED screen with a refresh rate of 75Hz and and a field of view of 90 degrees. The large lenses and the glasses both can be individually adjusted, making it suitable for everyone. The two built-in camera’s on the front of the device allow you to see the world in 3D. The company calls this function WorldView Real and ensures that you never have to grab your controller or mouse again and provides future opportunities for Augmented Reality. The device doesn’t have a built-in tracking position, but it uses hardware like a gyroscope and accelerometer.
The built-in hardware ensures that your computer doesn’t have to perform much work. The company claims that the glasses perform so well, that you do not need to buy new PCs for the full experience. The VR goggles automatically converts surround sound to stereo, taking into account the direction of the sound. This allows you to use your own headphone but you hear exactly where the sound is coming from.
The advantage of these glasses are that it has built-in buttons on the headset. This allows you to scroll through menus and use the Real World View. The totem is compatible with a controller, keyboard and mouse. The release date and price are still unknown, but you can pre-order it on their website.
