The Chinese market in vr headsets is developing quickly and more and more advance VR headsets show up. Recently the PIMAX 4K UHD and PIMAX 8K VR 3D Headset VR headsets showed up on GearBest. Time to take a look.

The 4K PIMAX headset is the first virtual reality headset suited with a high performance custom made 4K AMOLED screen with a resolution of 3849x2160P and a response time of 2.3ms.  Is has a 100 degrees field of view. With the 1000Hz dual gyroscope it should bring dizziness to the minimum. The two 53mm aspherical lenses are cut with anti-blue light so they protect your eyes. According to the developer the headset has room for glasses and weighs only 220 grams. The biggest drawback seems to be the lack of positional tracking and the developer is aware of that. It seems like the PIMAX 8K VR 3D Headset does offer a tracking system.

We’re currently negotiation with GearBest to test several Chinese virtual reality gear including the PIMAX VR headset.

You can find the PIMAX 4K UHD on GearBest for €339.63.

Robbert As some of you may know, I have been suffering from the aftermath of a traffic accident, a severe case of COVID-19, and a transient ischemic attack (TIA). These events have taken a toll on my physical and mental well-being, and I can no longer keep up with the demands of running a VR website and channel. I want to thank you all for your support and feedback over the years. You have been an amazing community and I have enjoyed sharing my passion for VR and gaming with you. I hope you will continue to enjoy VR and explore its possibilities. I will leave the website and channel online for now, so you can still access the content I have created. However, I will not be posting any new blogs, videos, or news. I hope you understand and respect my choice.

  1. It seems a bit of a stretch that a GTX 960 could drive a 4K HMD (at least drive it well).

A GTX 970 seems to be the real-world minimum for a current Oculus / Vive / OSVR HMD.

Love to hear what you think of the 4K or even 8K visuals though!
