Super Mario 64 for the Nintendo 64 is one of my all-time favorites. It’s an example of how games can be transformed from one generation to a new generation of games. Mario was converted from a flat 2D character to a 3D figure. The gameplay of the game was amazing, everything felt right. Now we can enjoy the same game in Virtual Reality! A new experience, that is still far from ready but it gives you a glimpse of what is possible with these amazing games. I really enjoyed it and I hope you enjoy the gameplay video.
About Super Mario 64
Super Mario 64 is a 3D platformer released in 1996. You control Mario through several courses. Each course is an enclosed world hidden behind a painting, wall or door. There are also a couple of hidden world in the game. You are free to wander in all directions and discover the environment without time limits. The worlds are filled with enemies that attack you as well as friendly creatures that provide assistance, offer information, or ask a favor. In each world you can collect stars; some stars only appear after completing certain tasks. These challenges include defeating a boss, solving puzzles, racing an opponent, and gathering coins. The more stars you collect, the more areas become accessible. You can unlock door with stars or key’s which you can obtained by defeating Bowser. There are many hidden mini-courses and other secrets to the game, most containing extra stars required for the full completion of the game. The game offers a total of 120 stars. You don’t need to collect them all to finish the game. If you do collect all stars the canon outside of the castle will open so you can shoot the top of the roof where Yoshi has a special message for you. Will you be the first to reach Yoshi in VR?
