VIDEO UPDATED. Just 25 minutes of pure horror :). If you want to get a better experience, just use your google cardboard to watch this video.
Alien: Isolation is a first-person survival horror game which captures the fear and tension evoked by Ridley Scott’s 1979 classic film. As the player you find yourself in an atmosphere of constant dread and mortal danger and unpredictable alien terror. Underpowered and underprepared, you must scavenge resources and find your way out. Your main mission: simply stay alive. Alien Isolation is one of the best horror games at this moment and with the Oculus Rift this game is a completely new and immersive scary experience. The atmosphere is fantastic, scary music build up the tension and at the most tension moment an alien breath into your neck your. A toe-curling experience.
The game doesn’t support the Oculus Rift out of the box. To enable VR you need to pause the service in the Oculus Configuration Utility, change some settings and set the oculus as secondary monitor (not as main display).
Open the ENGINE_SETTINGS.XML with Wordpad and change the settings. If you installed the game from Steam it should be under Program Files/Steam/steamapps/common/Alien/data.
- <Setting name=”Stereo Mode”>
- <Quality name=”Rift” precedence=”4″/>
- <Quality name=”Off” precedence=”4″/>
- </Setting>
- Set the Rift to secundairy monitor in the Display Setting.
- Set the Oculus to extended mode.
- In the Oculus Configuration utility, pause the service.
- Start the game, play and enjoy. When done, do step 5.
Now you can start the game in the Rift. But be warned: In space no one can hear you scream! **updated video***
